The Kyneton Boots and Roots Music Festival is a celebration of music in the Macedon Ranges. Our inaugural festival aims to bring the community together by promoting musicians in the region and supporting local business.
Held in the township of Kyneton across 13 venues including pubs, churches and the newly restored Kyneton Mechanics Institute, Boots & Roots is a mix of folk, blues, gospel, country, celtic, jazz, acoustic, brass, swing, covers, originals and of course rock. There’s something for everyone at The Kyneton Boots & Roots Music Festival.

Musical Tour of the Churches
Out the front of Mechanics Institute from 8.00am till 9.30am there will be a Breakfast hosted by the Kyneton Lions Club and the Festival. It’s a chance to get a feed, catch up with friends and get ready to stroll through our four Bluestone churches and relax with live gospel, country and some jazz. This will be a musical experience that will bring all of the community together. We finish the tour at the historic Kyneton Museum.

Singer Songwriter Mentor Workshop
Artists Kutcha Edwards, Cyndi Boste, Geoffrey Williams, Brett Kelly and Adam Brentnall have been working with the next generation of local singer/songwriters in the community over four workshops. On Saturday afternoon the group will perform at the Kyneton Mechanics Institute to family, friends, locals and best of all they will be heard live across the shire on Highlands FM.

Ode To Kyneton
The Festival Grand Finale
After a feast of live music all weekend, the festivities will wrap up on Sunday afternoon at the Mechanics Institute with an ‘Ode to Kyneton’. The theme is ‘My Town’, and artists from the weekend will come together with the community to share what they love about Kyneton, through songs and stories.
Special guests, comedian singer songwriter R. Bruce and old time folk blues artist Tully Sumner will be joining the party.
Kyneton Ridge Estate will be serving some of the finest local wines throughout the day.
Artists confirmed so far…Reservoir Frogs, Kate Gibson & Jarrod Shaw, David Juriansz, Geoffrey O’Connell, King Maxwell, plus a very special appearance from the participants of the Songwriter Workshop!!

Boot Art Exhibition
Opens 10am Friday 2nd March at Mechanics Institute. Kyneton, Tylden, Malmsbury and Drummond Primary School have all submitted artwork. Walk through and have a look. Don’t forget to vote for the people’s choice award.
